Obama, McCain to speak at forum on civic engagement and service

September 10th, 2008

Barack Obama and John McCain will both speak at the ServiceNation Summit in New York City this week. They’ll appear at an evening forum tomorrow focused on civic engagement and service; the event will be in observation of the seventh anniversary of 9/11; it will be moderated by PBS NewsHour Senior Correspondent and Political Editor Judy Woodruff and Richard Stengel, managing editor of Time magazine. The candidates will appear separately.

The interviews with Obama and McCain will take place before a live audience of September 11 family members, military veterans, thought leaders, and Columbia University students. New York Governor David Paterson will welcome the audience before the start of the event. The event will be webcast, although details weren’t yet available; I’m told that if you visit the ServiceNation site tomorrow viewing information will be available. The conference organizers are inviting the public to submit questions for the candidates; you can submit a question by clicking here
